Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) What is the Greenbrook Auction?
The Greenbrook Auction is a celebration of all that we, the Greenbrook parents, do individually and as a community for our children, students and school. The Auction is THE EVENT of the year. It is a chance for us parents to go out and let our “Mom and Dad” persona go, just for the evening, and to allow others to care for our needs and wants. There are primarily two very important reasons for the Greenbrook Auction. First, the Auction is a chance to have fun and celebrate our great community and fantastic school. The second reason is very simple: it is a fundraiser. The Auction is the premier fundraiser for the Greenbrook Eagle Fund, which is a nonprofit charitable organization. The Eagle Fund was founded specifically to coordinate the various fundraising activities benefiting Greenbrook Elementary School. By unifying and coordinating fundraising events, the Eagle Fund has been able to raise enough money to be able to afford some of the most popular educational programs offered at Greenbrook Elementary. Due in part to the efforts of the Eagle Fund, the Greenbrook Elementary faculty has had the opportunity to work with all of our children to raise AIP and Star test scores making Greenbrook Elementary a Blue Ribbon School. Through your generosity, the Auction Committee hopes to continue the wonderful traditions of achievement at Greenbrook Elementary School. The Eagle Fund pays 100% for some of the most popular programs offered at Greenbrook Elementary including vocal music, computer science, art and many of the wonderful teach aides working with our children. The Eagle Fund has spent thousands of dollars for books in support of the New Your Reading and Writing program, a very popular program with Greenbrook parents. The Eagle Fund provides all Greenbrook Teachers with an expense account that they can use to purchase supplies enabling our teachers to offer unique and fun learning opportunities. The Eagle Fund even supplements the Librarian’s salary, which enables the library to remain open during normal school hours. Quite frankly, there is not enough room here to describe everything that you will receive and that will happen at the Greenbrook Auction. The Auction Committee is working hard to make this the highlight evening of the year. But, the biggest thing you will get at the Greenbrook Auction is the opportunity to know that you can make a difference in the educational experiences of all of our children. The items available in Auction are all items generously donated by you, your neighbors, friends and local businesses. The Auction Committee is seeking donations of your vacation home, tickets to a local sports team or other events, like a concert or the symphony, or extra special bottles (or cases) of wine lying around in your wine cellar. If you have a knack for throwing that “must go to” party, go ahead and throw that party and let the students benefit. Come to think of it, if you have something that “everyone wants”, we want it too. There are so many new things this year. First, the Auction is being held at the Crow Canyon Country Club right here in our backyard! Second, the Main Event will not have any silent auction items - there will only be a raffle and live items. Most importantly, the things you loved about last year are BACK! The Childrens Art Auction and Fund-a-Need is being held February 4th. Its a free event again and all the classroom creations will be available! And last, the online auction with our new and improved BidLizard software will be open on February 17th - 27th! So sit back, relax, and enjoy the Starry Nights of the 2010 Auction season. |
